Experience Upcycling at EcoKaari: A Journey from Waste to Weave (Capgemini & Icertis)

At EcoKaari, sustainability is not just a practice; it’s an experience. Every visit to our Pune workshop tells a story of transformation, creativity, and hope. It’s where people witness how discarded single-use plastic is handwoven into beautiful products and where awareness meets action.

Over the years, EcoKaari has welcomed thousands of visitors from school and college students to corporate professionals and sustainability enthusiasts, all eager to experience the art of upcycling firsthand. Our Upcycling Experience Tour offers a deep dive into the world of circular living, where waste finds new purpose and traditional craftsmanship empowers modern sustainability.

Recently, we had the privilege of hosting teams from Capgemini and Icertis, both of whom left deeply inspired by the craftsmanship, process, and passion that define EcoKaari.

Capgemini: Weaving Awareness Through Experience

In a vibrant and engaging session, a group of 50 Capgemini team members visited EcoKaari’s Pune workshop to explore how creativity can turn environmental responsibility into a tangible experience. The group was introduced to the entire upcycling journey from collecting and cleaning plastic waste to weaving it into usable fabric using the charkha and traditional handloom.

As they watched our artisans at work, transforming shiny plastic wrappers into colourful fabric, the visitors were amazed at the level of skill, patience, and precision involved. Many participants enthusiastically tried their hands at spinning the charkha and operating the handloom experiencing firsthand how sustainability can be rooted in tradition and craftsmanship.

The Capgemini team also interacted with our artisans, learning about their stories, livelihoods, and how each woven thread contributes not just to a product, but to empowerment and change. Before leaving, the group purchased EcoKaari’s upcycled products, proudly supporting the initiative and taking a piece of sustainability back with them, a reminder that corporate social responsibility begins with conscious choices.

Icertis: A Deep and Ongoing Connection

Among the organisations that have built a strong and lasting connection with EcoKaari is Icertis, whose teams have visited our Pune workshop not once, but three times. Each visit has been filled with curiosity, compassion, and genuine interest in our mission.

During their tours, Icertis employees experienced the complete upcycling process from sorting and cutting plastic waste to weaving it on the handloom. The highlight of every session was when participants interacted with our founder, Nandan Bhat, along with the artisans and admin team, discussing sustainability, livelihoods, and the importance of conscious consumption.

The visitors appreciated how traditional techniques, such as handloom weaving, could be reimagined to address modern problems, such as plastic pollution. Many also tried weaving themselves, realising how effort-intensive and meditative the process is.

What makes Icertis’s visits even more special is their ongoing engagement. Beyond the experience, they have shown continued support by purchasing EcoKaari products, integrating sustainability into their corporate culture, and inspiring others to follow suit.

Experience the Change Yourself

EcoKaari’s Upcycling Tour is more than an activity; it’s an awakening. It’s a space where awareness turns into appreciation, and appreciation into action. Each visitor leaves with a renewed sense of purpose, realising that sustainability is not abstract, it’s something we can all weave into our daily lives.

Whether you’re a school, college, or corporate team, EcoKaari invites you to step into the world of handcrafted sustainability. See how we humanise fashion, empower artisans, and reimagine waste one wrapper, one weave, one visitor at a time.
